Laura Warwick has been picking apart the experience of text messaging – a pragmatic tool that has been adapted for much more social, emotive uses. Her innovative Texture Messaging service caught the attention of many industry experts at the Mobile User Experience Conference 2009, in particular Immersion, who are developing the tactile aspects of mobile experiences, and hope to help Laura create some software to demonstrate elements of her idea at New Designers.

Textual messaging, an MEX Award entry, allows the sending of addition tactile information alongside text messages to provide a more enriching way of communicating emphasis and meaning through a mobile platform.
